Today was a picture perfect day in our nation’s capital.
After wandering around The National Gallery of Art I enjoy a wonderful dinner at Coppi’s topped by an awesome dog from Ben’s Chili Bowl.
Three cheers for vacation days.

How would I describe my Just wrapped NY weekend? Full of friends, food and drink. We ate/drank at Katz, Peter Lugers, Momofuku, Billy’s Bakery, Gimmie Coffee, Don’t Tell Mama, Terroir, Maracuja, lord know where else. We stayed out until all hours of the night and I got to see my friends Alison…

You know, I still think this town might be somewhere in my future. I love LA but NYC is kinda magical.
Have you heard of The Jejune Institute?
Me neither, that is until either Steve Peters or Elan Lee or Jesse Alexander or Lance Weiler tweeted about it. As I’m now curious about ARGs, and I was gonna be in San Francisco for the New Year’s Eve, why not check it out?
I did and my conclusion is… actually, I did have one. By the time I got to the last… I don’t know if I should call it a “task” or a “test”… they were closed. They locked the doors early for the holiday. Jejune gave me narrative blue balls.
Well, I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say that if you have 2 hours to spare, a cell phone with camera (camera not required but it helps), good walking shoes and at least $1.10 in your pocket, you should try it. And don’t start trolling the internet to find out what it is until after you’ve experienced it. If you’re in San Francisco, walk into 580 California Street and ask for The Jejune Institute.
Oh, and don’t start too late in the day either.
A couple of years ago, I traveled to Chicago to see a few friends. Here’s the proof.
Factoids: I shot about an hour of HDV footage on a Sony A1U, converted it to ProRes, edited it down in Final Cut Pro and timed it in After Effects with Colorista.
Um, can’t say much about what happened but here’s my “coming home” pic (the sun was up about an hour later).
Hope you had fun; we did. Next stop: home and the end of my traveling escapades.
Hello Day 2.
It’s Vegas so I can’t give away all the details but I can say that we had a HUGE Thai meal.
We also played more craps (I think I could REALLY get into this game). We also ran into a pack of girls having a STAR WARS wedding.
PS, Dear Princess Lea w/ the RETURN OF THE JEDI outfit. The chain is an awesome touch. If you’re ever in Los Angeles…
Our first night was rather tame. We staggered into town (Dear Jet Blue, thanks for getting me to Sin City 90 minutes late).
We then headed over to Sam Woo for some awesome late night eats.
After that, the guys hit the craps tables at The Venetian.
I’m not a gambler but I think I could get into this game. I don’t completely understand it but I now know that at first a “7″ is good, then it’s bad. That’s basically it, right?
And today I’m off to Las Vegas for my buddy Adam’s bachelor party. What do we plan to do in Sin City?
Well, some of the guys want to do this…
But I’m not much of a player so I’ll probably pass. Plus I gotta work (boo!).
We’ll eat one of these…
We’ll drink lots of these…
We’ll play some of this…
But again I’m not much of a gambler, so I’ll do some more work (boo!).
We’ll snuggle up to a few of these until the credit cards max out…
And maybe they’ll hook us up with some of this…
Wait, no, that last one is a joke. Haha! See, a joke. Joking. We won’t be doing that.

I spent this weekend in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival… let me back up.
Three years ago, I didn’t know a thing about beer. I was in Colorado to support a friend through a difficult situation when I received a phone call asking if I wanted to help out on a documentary called BEER WARS.
Three years later the film is done, it’s out (go pick up a DVD) and I’m at the GABF celebrating my newly developed love for craft beers.
The first night at the GABF I was hanging with my long time friend Bella and her husband Eric.

At the fest, I caught up with the director of BEER WARS and some of its subjects.

We tried a lot of beers, not all of them… how shall I say… “suited out palate”
Let it be known, beer geeks take their brews seriously (but with a good sense of humor).
After the first night, we headed into downtown Denver for a night cap.

We kicked the night into overdrive and met up with Bella’s cousin Megan.
In order to protect the innocent, I won’t publish the gory details but in the tradition of “a thousand words….”, how about I show you this:

The second night Bella and I returned and we made sure to drink plenty of water.

If you aren’t listening to Coverville, what’s your excuse? Waiting for me to do a post dedicated to the show? That’s in the works.
I drank many great beers by phenomenal breweries such as Sam Adams, Tommyknockers, New Belgium Brewery, Stone Brewing and so many more I can’t remember them all but I will say that Dogfish Head is one of my all time favorites. I’d drink every beer they make at least twice. Heck, I even bought a friend three cases as a wedding gift.
The weekend wasn’t all beer. My friends and their two kids were kind enough to drive me around and show me some sights.
And so I say adios to Denver. Next stop, VEGAS BABY!
