Okay, let me be positive. I was f**king stoked that Melissa Leo won; I’ve loved her since her HOMICIDE days. And I loved that she dropped the f-bomb.

But the rest of the show was a snooze fest. Seriously, I was hoping to score some of what Franco was smoking cause I wanted to be in that headspace (yeah, I know it’s a cheap shot but I really did feel how he looked).

On unrelated news, I don’t blog enough anymore so I’m gonna remedy that. In March there will be one post for every weekday of the month (although some might not get published until the weekend because of my schedule). Prepare for 23 blog posts.

Fuck yeah!

So it seems like the potential Oscar nominees/winners are now in better focus. It seems like…

  • I can’t believe I’m saying this but it looks like AVATAR is gonna win Best Picture.
  • Still, I’m putting my money on Kathryn Bigelow winning Best Director.
  • Jeff Bridges will win Best Actor. F**kin’ awesome!
  • Will Sandra Bullock win Best Actress? If so, it means Oscar voters are more concerned with ratings (sorry Sandy but I’m basing that opinion on ALL ABOUT STEVE. I haven’t seen THE BLIND SIDE but if you send me a screener I’ll give it a fair review.).
  • Is there any doubt Mo’nique will win Best Supporting Actress or that Christopher Waltz will win Best Supporting Actor?

All that said, I couldn’t care less about about all the awards hoopla this year. I don’t know why but when I figure it out, I’ll let ya know.

Ooh, but with 10 Best Picture nominations maybe things will get interesting with the wild cards. Do you think DISTRICT 9 will get a nod? I hope so.

Regardless if this ends up being a good idea or bad idea, we are half way through the year so we should have at least one contender, right? As I’ve seen 42 theatrical releases this year, I will suggest three possible contenders.

Of the movies I’ve seen this year, my three Oscar hopefuls are:

  • Up – Because it’s about time Pixar gets a nod.
  • Star Trek – I don’t think we will see a better big budget action flick this year.
  • Due to my NDA I can’t say anything (yet) but this movie comes out this summer and I think you’ll like this one.

    • BTW, it was much harder to pick three possibilities than I originally imagined.

    On a tangent, it’s been one hell of a week for celebrity deaths. We lost Ed McMahon who gave us this awesome point of reference.

    We lost Farrah Fawcett who advanced mainstream cheesecake (as well as many a young boy’s adolescence) thanks to this poster.
